Ruben Flores graduated from Corban University in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and is currently completing his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling also at Corban University. Before beginning his journey in counseling, he spent many years supporting individuals with disabilities with achieving their personal and vocational goals including independent living, vocational stability, and self-advocacy. His experience in this work shaped his passion for walking alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges and discover hope for the future. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano, exploring hiking trails, and relaxing with a good book. His hope as a counselor is to encourage others to recognize their strengths and take steps towards the life they want to build.
Ruben enjoys working collaboratively with clients to address the challenges they are facing. He provides counseling in both English and Spanish. He values and integrates cultural awareness to foster an environment where clients can comfortably express their unique identities and experiences. Ruben practices from an object relations foundation where he fosters a safe and accepting environment where clients can explore their past experiences and present circumstances to develop a better understanding of how these experiences have shaped who they are. Additionally, he also utilizes person-centered and cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients feel seen and empowered to address their present challenges. Ruben works with adolescents along with men and women of all ages. He is passionate about working with individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, and depression.
